Yoga has become more popular in the athlete community. As we learn about the benefits of mobility and core strength on an athlete’s longevity, there becomes a need for it. There are several types of yoga practice and all have different benefits. Knowing what works for you takes trying different styles out depending on the sport you play and the physical demand it has on your body. For example, a football player might enjoy restorative yoga because it activates the parasympathetic nervous system through the practice of deep breathing and stretching, calming the body down. Restorative yoga could help a football player relax after an intense practice or game. A basketball player might enjoy vinyasa because it flows through many different positions while maintaining balance and core strength. When you watch basketball players on the court, balance and core strength are crucial parts of the game. Below are some benefits of adding yoga to your training routine.

Benefits of Yoga:

  • Improved mobility
  • Reduces stress
  • Calms the body & mind
  • Improves balance
